After the hunt.
a speedy paint.
Okay guys, here’s the thing. I do this shit for fun. And while yes, I’m capable of bullshitting massive amounts of work in short periods of time and posting it, I don’t really want to. So yeah, I wrote a couple thousand words about an entire Aspect, but it wasn’t any goddamn fun, and it wasn’t anywhere near the level of quality it needed to be. So I’ve changed methods: instead of doing huge posts, I am going to do high quality Classpects, every single one, ONE AT A TIME. And it will be an ADVENTURE.
Yeah, I know its not what you guys wanted. But this came at a point where I was about to quit Project Omicron altogether. And this way, I can do it at a pace that makes me happy, a few days at a time, and also not create massive lapses in productivity when I am swamped.
So here we go.
MY MIND HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY FUCKED
I THOUGHT GRIMDARK ONLY OCCURRED WITH VOID AND SHIT BUT NOW
JADE GOING GRIMDARK
DOES SHE SUDDENLY GET VOID POWERS?
IS IT LIKE THE OPPOSITE OF TRICKSTER?
VIOLENT INVERSION?
BRO I CAN'T
Bro y'all need to calm the fuck down. This was expected. This was PLANNED. From the point that Tavros revealed he could mind control Bec and that Vriska’s powers over John were questioned. This is not inversion. What’s happening to Jade is probably inversion. Its too soon to tell.
At this point, what’s most likely is that John and Dave get involved. Just wait and see and be chill.
every pikminstuck au makes me laugh so much its so goddamn cute
how does something this adorable exist
If you don’t understand how awesome this is I pity you.
Does Classpect confuse you? The endless series of titles and ranks, charting some unfathomable system that is wondrously complex, terribly complex, but overall just seems way too important to the story for something Hussie doesn’t seem willing to explain? Well good news! Under the tutelage of my friend and mentor bladekindEyewear, I have the learned the basics, and through spending way too much time thinking and writing about the classes and aspects, I have come up with working definitions and ideas behind them! So read on, and look at a few very well defended and defined ideas and theories behind them all.
This system was primarily developed by Homestuck, so reading the comic would be a great asset in understanding it, but by no means should a study be limited to fans of the comic. It would be very interesting to see a non-Homestuck get into the system.
It’s all under the cut. Questions, additions, theories, criticisms, compliments, and gifts are all well appreciated. Especially the gifts. But be warned: there are approximately 9,000 words here, and you are getting yourself into something big.
Heh… I’ve thought about this one a lot.
The thing to pay attention to is that Spike is REALLY unrealized. He has huge amounts of potential, but at this moment, he has not used any of it. He most commonly correlates to Blood, due to his relationship to Twilight, undying loyalty, and connections to himself as a dragon despite not knowing what that means.
Not everyone has a Class. Simple as that. Some people never impact reality in a significant way enough to need one. Every Joe Schmoe in accounting doesn’t need one. Of course, everyone has a latent class, I guess you could say. But the huge problem with that is that until that class shows itself in full force, all guesses towards it are simply projections of their future impact.
However, Spike is showing a few signs as the series goes on of being an Heir. Heirs tend to start with large amount of their aspect: just look at John’s almost total freedom to goof around and get away with it, his shrugging off of physical/emotional pain, and the almost unique ability to dance around aimlessly while still getting all of his goals done. Spike too, has a huge of amount of Blood: loyalty to his friends and especially Twilight, his ideas of duty, and his mastering of his own desires in an attempt to help others. However, the real key with Spike is that he both invites change through loyalty and at the same time is changed through loyalty. In the latest episode, he works extremely hard to fulfill a debt he felt he had, to the point where his loyalty and determination inspire people to help him fulfill this loyalties. Also think of Dragon Quest, where he has a major desire to go forth and find who he is, and people come to help him because of it. We could look at this as him simply having overbearing friends, or he could be inspiring them as he himself is inspired. So my guess for Spike is that the show goes on , we will see more evidence as him as an Heir of Blood.
Oh yes, and I’m not the expert. That’s bladekindEyewear. But most of the time he’s way too busy to answer questions like this.
(Hobbit Spoilers) Good question! And I’d been thinking about this.
For Thorin, I’m going to say he’s not a Page of Blood. There’s certainly some Blood, his connection to the Dwarves and the way they work together, but although its important to him, its not his main vehicle for working together. After all, his strength is not his ability to bind them all together and make them work better that way, nor does he inspire them to use the connections they have. I’m a bit iffy, but I think Thorin is a Page of Space. Think of his use of strategy and positioning, his understanding of strategy, and his habit of inspiring to use it themselves? Then there’s the overarching quest, which is to gain the mountain home of his ancestors so they can become a great people again. Finally, his ideas tend to revolve around objects and use of them, such as using weapons, improvising a shield, and planning with what he has. So I’m sticking with Page of Space for him, very well realized too. In fact, his ultimate conflict comes when Bilbo steals something he wants, causing him to suffer a conflict of Space with his need of the Arkenstone.
As for Gandalf, he’s based off of Odin, who is a Mage of Doom if I’ve ever seen one (casting off his eye for knowledge, seeing Ragnarok coming, etc.). However, in a bit of a twist, Gandalf comes across as a Seer of Life. He is not allowed to interact directly with the events in Middle Earth, nor is he doing his best work when he does directly interfere. No, his best actions are when he sees the actions coming beforehand and carefully plans for them. He sees Bilbo, and can tell the potential in him, and nudges him into his quest. He sees the Necromancer coming far in advance and convinces the wizards to cast him out. He sees all of Middle Earth in danger at the hands of Sauron and convinces the forces to assemble so that they can defeat him. He intercedes directly at times, of course, but the truth is that Gandalf’s role is to watch and advise, and in doing so he sees the flow of life and its growth to overcome problems, and that’s what makes him a Seer of Life.
Anyone think something different? Send me a message.
That’s a pretty good idea of how a thief works: taking things and putting them to use, either by using it themselves or giving it away if they feel like it. But, the other important aspect is that they are an active class, and that means control. *ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL* OH SHI-
Ehehehe…. ANYWAY. The idea behind a Space thief would not just be taking physical space. Of course, in combat they probably would, getting in close, shutting down a person’s ability to manuever, stepping them from moving and running circles around them. However, it is also about substance and creation. A great example of a Thief of Space is actually Bilbo Baggins. Hobbit Spoilers ahead, Book and Movie. First of all, he steals Space, by things like taking the ring from Gollum and the Arkenstone. More than that, though, is that he steals THROUGH space. As he improves as a burglar, his growth is all about knowing where to stand, how to present himself, locations both physical and mental to take. And no, just because he’s invisible does not mean that he’s Void. Aspects are more than just flashy powers. Furthermore, his entire goal is to actually take back the mountain home of the dwarves, a quest that just absolutely screams “Thief of Space”. Er, sorry, “THIEF OF SPAAAAACE!!!”
Now a Thief of Void I have touched upon before. Void is obscurity, destruction of information, and submission. So a Thief of Void would take these hiding points and this ability to hide, and use it for themselves. Like Black Widow from the Avengers, taking people’s secrets and all the while pretending that she’s someone that she’s not, hiding in the shadows while putting everyone in the Light. They can’t be seen because they use the Void like a cloak, while stealing yours and everything else you have!
And that’s my thoughts. What do you guys think?
Alright, I’ve done this before, but the quality was extremely low, and with the help of bladekindEyewear I have completely revamped this whole thing. So lets do this one more time, with much higher quality this time.
Oh my, this question…
Well, let’s begin then! Giving credit where credit is due, most of this comes from a conversation I had with bladekindEyewear (http://bladekindeyewear.tumblr.com/)
One thing that has to be considered is that the Elements of Harmony are more than just prizes for doing good, they are CHALLENGES to be embraced and overcome. This, in essence, actually makes them pretty good bases for their Title/Aspect Roles! Without further ado, let’s get into it!
Applejack
Maid of Heart
Heart is associated with the true nature of someone, what drives them at their core and what makes them who they are. And what makes Applejack who she is? She’s true to herself, always. When the times are down and trials mount, she’s there to act as a steady rock and guide for those who need it. She does try and lie from time to time, which is a fairly common Mind trait, but she’s never very good at it and doesn’t really fool anyone. That’s because that’s not who she is: she’s a Maid of Heart, and i all about the truth and the facts and being true to herself.
Rainbow Dash
Knight of Breath
For those who don’t know, Blood is the opposite of Breath (http://bladekindeyewear.tumblr.com/post/36797950396/breath-blood-and-the-flow-of-reality). While Blood is about bonds and links, and indeed loyalty, breath is about freedom, motivation, and quest. It might seem counterintuitive to make Rainbow Dash, who’s supposed to be surpemely loyal, a breath player. However, her challenge has always been about being true to her friends. Knight is a class centered around use of their aspect, arming themselves with their aspect and using it for everything. Rainbow Dash’s major challenge is that she needs to learn to be there for her friends, give up her own desire and freedom and use it instead to help out her allies and be there despite her own desire for freedom. Her growth will center around her using her own motivation and drive, and the drive of others, to help those she cares about and those she loves. And that is what makes her a Knight of Breath.
Rarity
Thief of Space
This one might cause some concern. Space in a Homestuck sense is more than just physical distance: its all about substance, creation, component parts, and everything that is. A Thief is an active redistribution class: they seek to allocate all of their aspect to themselves So looking at Rarity, one could be tempted to disagree: her ultimate end is not to be greedy and take everything for herself. However, this role doesn’t shoehorn her into this at all. A Thief, once she has taken her aspect, is free to do with it whatever she wishes. Rarity is willing to be selfish about her appearance and dresses, obsessing over her desire to keep them clean and pristine, but that is not the most of what she does. Her true role is to take all of these things and give it away once more. An example is when she makes the Gala dresses: by removing the choice the others have in their appearance, she helps them look better. So she is probably a Thief of Space, and her own personal challenge is giving the aspect to others once she has taken it.
Pinkie Pie
Rogue of Life
The Element of Laughter, as far as I can see, is not about making everyone bust out laughing and making all situations hilarious. Its about the sense of humor that is necessary to get through the hard things and continue growing. In this way, Pinkie is all about Life, which is focused on growing and overcoming trials to continue to grow. The Rogue, on the other hand, takes and redistributes this to people as they see fit. Pinkie’s biggest problem is that she wants to give Life ALL The time. This becomes a problem, such as for Cranky Doodle Donkey, when they don’t particularly feel like growing or consuming the energy necessary for Life, but would rather just take a nap.
Fluttershy
Slyph of Time
Figuring out the aspect on this one was a bitch. This is my second time writing this goddamn paragraph, in fact. The class was relatively easy: Fluttershy is a passive healer, through and through, and you can compare her style to Applejack’s, where Applejack actively seeks out and solve’s problems Fluttershy focuses more on injuries and things that people will bring to her or that she comes across. As for Time, she tends to favor the treatment that is the slower route. We see her bandaging up creatures when they are wounded, or getting Pinkie to lie down when she over exerts herself. In fact, when she’s helping the bear out, what she says is “you should have come to me sooner”, a sort of display of a sense of time. It’s not quite perfect, but its the best it available.
Twilight Sparkle
Inconclusive
We had a rather heated debate about it, but we came down to two possibilities. My argument was for Mage of Light. Twilight has a passive understanding of Light, information, fortune and agency, and uses it to her advantage She is always seeking to learn more, and even over the course of the series, her goal is to learn more about friendship so she can put it in action. The other argument is for her being a Witch of Void. Void deals with the unknown and the mysterious, while Witch is about control and change of something, without use of knowledge. Now, stay with me, the thing is that she is currently inverted according to this theory. Thus, she tries to be a Seer of Light, who uses careful information to instruct others and passively make everything work out, but she should really be doing the opposite: attacking the unknown head on and controlling it or her benefit. You can take your pick.
So, that’s the Main Six. I might do more ponies later, but this took a while to do and I’ll do the others later.
(Nobody knows about the Homestuck/Pony wars on Tumblr, right? Scout Jesus, I’m going to get so much hate for this, I can just taste it.)
