and here they all are in a nice little set. I didn’t make them their gifs because just imagining the quality tumblr would present them in is just…no.

But conveniently below are the links to view them in their gif form.

What started out with a gamzee doodle turned into this. nice.

[gamzee] [sollux] [karkat] [vriska] [kanaya] [feferi] [tavros] [aradia] [eridan] [nepeta] [terezi] [equius]

So, when I was introducing my friend to the idea of classpecting (which I did before introducing Homestuck, for some weird reason) he stated that pretty much all Nintendo heroes could be classified as Knights, or rather, Knights of Light. Would his less than informed statement be correct in some way, with say, Link or Mario?

Hm. Hard to say. Often their portrayal lacks personality or is vastly different from iteration to iteration. For Mario, he seems to be naturally gifted at most of what he does, and tends to do things mainly out of necessity. Princess needs saving? He’ll save it. And he has no reservation, almost no sense of self-preservation. I would probably tag him as an Heir of Heart for that reason: driven by an intense desire to be a hero, capable of changing things around him to suit that need, and ultimately doing what he feels is right. Even his powers denote this: all of his upgrades serve to bring out his inner hero and showcase his strength.

Now Link is a bit harder. You get the sense that as his games go on, he starts off just tossed to and fro but later grabs the ability to control his own destiny to a degree, utilizing his items to an incredible degree all the while. But, one interesting thing is that he also tends to be a facilitator rather than a major player: he seeks out the good people to follow and follows them, rather than creating plans for his own or charting out the paths necessary. Combine that to the fact that what gives him strength is his lineage: the blood of the hero, combining and empowering again and again to give him strength. For these reasons, he’s probably a Blood player. As for Class, he is indeed skilled at utilization, but even more than that, what he’s good at is gaining skills and growing as a person. For that reason, I would peg him as a Thief of Blood, using his lineage to give him access to ancient powers and forces, then using those to increase his connection to the ideal of hero that he is.

Now Samus I’ve thought about before, and I’ve always pegged her a Prince(ss) of Life. Why? Sheer destructive power, obliterating everything in her way, growing to new heights and then using those to again increasing her power. Her growth always allows her to gain access to more and more areas, usual through some sort of destruction, and she is generally combating the evolution of an enemy faction (creation of Metroids, the X parasite, etc.). Furthermore, she has an intense desire to become a continuously better person, to the point where she can’t stand it if she is stopped from doing so, and is destined to bring a period of peace and new growth to the galaxy.

So those are three and I think they can all be pegged as non-Knights. There are many characters who are Knights in video games (the Kid from Bastion for one, Batman in his video game appearnces for another) but the big three Nintendo ones are not.
